Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, Mr. Leonid Nevzlin, and Maj.-General (res.) Aharon Ze’evi Farkash are Joining Forces to Take JPPPI to its Next Stage

 

Founding Director of the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute (JPPPI), Avinoam Bar-Yosef, announced yesterday October 5, 2009, the three new appointees joining the leadership of the Institute: “JPPPI has completed a yearlong effort to assemble the right leadership to steward the next phase of its development, focusing on the implementation of its action-oriented policy recommendations made to Jewish organizations and the Government of Israel with respect to the current challenges faced by the Jewish People,” emphasized Bar-Yosef.

 

Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat has been appointed Chairman of JPPPI’s Board of Directors and Professional Guiding Council.  Ambassador Eizenstat is a partner of the law firm Covington & Burlington, and heads the firm’s international practice. Among his many voluntary positions, Eizenstat served as Chairman of the International Board of Governors of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.

 

Ambassador Eizenstat replaces at JPPPI Ambassador Dennis Ross who left the position last January to join the Obama administration.

 

Ambassador Eizenstat has held many senior positions in US Democratic administrations including Under Secretary of State and Deputy Secretary of Commerce, and Ambassador to the European Union. In addition, he served as Bill Clinton’s Special Representative on Holocaust-Era Issues; his book about this work, Imperfect Justice: Looted Assets, Slave Labor, and the Unfinished Business of World War II, was published in 2003.
